Q: Why don’t you sell to my country?
A: I’m only selling to English speaking countries who have generous tax thresholds. If your country doesn’t, I need to register and remit to your country’s tax authority–and, of course, charge you tax. Having said that, I am looking into registering with the EU at some point.
Q. Do you do custom covers?
A. Maybe. But obviously not at the prices you see here. If you have a request, and it’s fairly simple–in my opinion–I’ll consider doing it and offer you a quote. Use my contact form if you have any questions.
Q. How come you sell your covers for so cheap?
A. For the most part, I’m keeping these ebook covers fairly simple. I do get carried away sometimes, and spend much more time on a cover then I should, but I absorb that. You win in those cases! I’m a writer, and doing covers is just another creative outlet for me, not a full time job. That’s why I don’t take on any custom work.
Most importantly, I’m not a professional designer! I know enough to be able to produce acceptable covers that meet current genre expectations — in some cases — but there is no way I could produce the type of work the pros do. So I don’t expect you to pay me anywhere near what they can and should expect.
Q. Can I request modifications to a cover?
A. No. What you see is what you get. Other than adding text, there will be no changes. Having said that, if you have a specific free font you would like me to use, I will change fonts and font colors, assuming the color still shows against the background — and assuming I have the rights to use the font. Please note that you will need to communicate this up front. I won’t go back and do it a second time.
Q: Do you offer print covers?
A: Yes. If you want to add a POD — print on demand — cover, there is an extra $25 charge. This is a 6×9 KDP cover that has been properly sized and allows for bleed, trim and fold. This will be a solid, complimentary color for spine and back, no artwork.
Q: What info do you need for print covers?
A: You will need to have formatted your book for print. This is entirely different from the formatting of your ebook. You will need to provide number of printed pages and spine width. I will also need all copy for your back cover blurb. Make sure you give me the right dimensions up front. There are no free do-overs!
Q. Can I add a print cover at a later date?
A. Yes, you can. However, it’s cheaper for you to order your print cover as an add-on when you place your ebook cover order. The cost of the add-on is $30.00 and the cost to order later is $40.00. Q. What if I want to snap up a cover I love, but don’t have a title yet?
A. Order it! Don’t take a chance on it being gone when you come back. When placing the order, it is necessary to put something in the “Title” field, so just provide something like “Title to Follow” or “No Title Available Yet” and I will understand. Just make sure you keep the SKU of the cover, because that is the only way I’ll have to reference it when you come back to me with the title.
Q. Will you sell more than 1 copy of a cover?
A. No. As soon as a cover it sold, it will disappear from the site.
Q: How long will this take?
A: You can generally expect to hear from me within 24 hours of placing an order. That’s just to let you know there is a real person behind this site. Within another 24 to 48 hours I should have a few options out to you. I’ll do some playing around with your title/fonts/colors and give you the chance to choose the one you like best.
If you are in a time crunch, please let me know. And if you have lots of time, and I can have some leeway, it’s nice to know that too! Some times I’m much busier than others.
